Hi,
On Tuesday September 04 2001, Steve Hargreaves said to Andrew Bell:

SH> myself use magicASL, which is still streets ahead). I had similar

No it isn't. If he doesn't own OS 3.5 (v44) then he doesn't have a license to
run it and is breaking international copyright law.
Besides, if he runs enforcer he might see ASL trying to poke data into
non-existant v44 structures. The thought of this should make programmers wet
themselves in sheer terror, but if he's happy to have data in memory randomly
corrupted, then that's fine by me. Except the warez aspect.
SH> He has said that this is the only time he has had any problems. I've
SH> tracked it down to it attached asc(255) to the path, so in my prog, I
SH> strip all instances of asc(255).
Oh, look. Nonrandom memory corruption. Where could this be coming from?
Anyway, character 255 is used in several languages: western European has
y-with-two-dots, Cyrillic has capital "ya" there. Stripping characters at
random is not good.
SH> I'd still like absolute confirmation that it is a conflict between the
SH> two that is causing theproblem, tho'.
Tell him to stop being a l33t w4r3z d00d, or I'll come over and chop his legs
off.
